In this blog, we’re blending the magic of Easter with the versatility of CONNETIX to create simple yet imaginative domino setups. From bunnies to colourful eggs and spring-inspired scenes, these ideas are perfect for adding seasonal joy to your playtime. Get ready to hop into the world of imaginative domino play that’s as engaging as it is festive!
1. Easter Bunny
Here’s my first Easter-themed domino build—a simple yet charming Easter Bunny inspired by the CONNETIX Free Resources , available on their website under Nature Series. The process starts with creating a flat bunny shape on a table or the floor, then carefully standing the same tiles upright on each piece. Adding a googly eye and a magnetic jar lid gives it a quirky personality! The best part about this activity is its open-ended nature—kids can use loose parts to decorate their bunny, making funny or wacky faces, or adding colourful tiles. This approach encourages creativity, imagination and endless fun!
2. Easter Egg
Here’s a simple and colourful domino build idea for Easter—a vibrant Easter egg created using CONNETIX ball run connecting tiles and wooden balls! This easy-to-recreate design is not just visually appealing but also versatile—it doubles as a fun colour-sorting activity for kids. Building and toppling this egg-shaped domino setup helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and patience while introducing basic concepts of colour recognition and sorting. Plus, the open-ended nature of this activity allows kids to experiment with different colour combinations or even create their own unique patterns. Little Chick
This Easter-themed domino build showcases a hatching egg with a playful chick peeking out, complete with googly eyes for added charm. It’s a fun way to explore the concept of life cycles as children imagine the egg cracking open to reveal the chick inside. To extend the play, kids can decorate the egg with colourful patterns or use domino tiles to simulate the egg breaking apart.
This activity goes beyond simple fun by fostering fine motor skills, creative thinking and sequencing. It can also be combined with the earlier build, as the unhatched egg or the fully grown chick (next build), to help children visualize the entire growth process. This hands-on experience encourages storytelling, sparks imagination and deepens their understanding of nature and the life cycle of animals.
4. Big chick
Check out this Easter-themed domino play: A cute chick! I used the same googly eye and magnetic jar lid to give the chick a quirky, fun personality, just like I did with the bunny build. A unique twist on this build involves changing the chick’s colour as it grows—from yellow to brown (or vice versa!). This idea offers children the chance to explore growth stages and observe changes in feathers, combs and size. You can even incorporate the earlier egg build, along with the hatching egg featuring a chick emerging, to illustrate where the chick comes from and help children visualise the entire life cycle. This open-ended activity fosters creativity while building colour recognition and fine motor skills. It’s an engaging and interactive way to explore animal development and the remarkable journey of growth!
5. Cute Carrot
This domino build features a whimsical carrot brought to life with a pair of googly eyes and a magnetic jar lid, adding a fun and imaginative touch. Using yellow tiles as the base and orange domino tiles to represent its growth stages, the setup creatively illustrates the transformation of a carrot—from a yellow root to its final vibrant orange form. The green tiles at the top symbolise the leafy part of the carrot, and to enrich the experience further add storytelling about the carrot’s journey from garden to plate, sparking creative discussions. This open-ended play idea combines education and fun, making the wonders of nature an engaging, hands-on adventure!
6.Easter Basket
This Easter-themed domino build features a vibrant basket filled with colourful eggs, using CONNETIX ball run connecting tiles and wooden balls to represent the eggs. The basket itself is built with a cheerful combination of pink, yellow pastel and rainbow tiles, making it as fun to look at as it is to play with! The creative process starts with forming the basket’s base and walls with colourful tiles, allowing kids to explore colour patterns and stacking techniques. Then, they can add the eggs inside the basket, using wooden balls or ball run tiles to represent the different colours. The simplicity of this idea makes it easy to recreate, but the flexibility of design gives kids the freedom to experiment—whether they choose to decorate the basket with unique patterns, or even add extra creative elements like handles or additional designs. It also offers a great colour-sorting opportunity, helping kids practice matching and organising while reinforcing colour recognition. This open-ended activity encourages imagination, boosts fine motor skills and adds a seasonal touch to learning, making it the perfect way to combine creativity and education this Easter!
